HLTAID003 Provide First Aid
Course Overview
This course aims to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to respond safely and effectively in first aid situations until the handover to medical professionals is possible.
This course is based on the latest Health Training Package (HLT) and has been designed using recommendations from Professional Industry Associations including the Australian Resuscitation Council, Diabetes Australia (Queensland) and Anaphylaxis Australia just to mention a few.
Training is completed face-to-face in a classroom environment with theory content including practical demonstrations, group discussions, scenarios and other interactive learning techniques to ensure that all participants gain an understanding of the first aid skills.
Provide First Aid Course covers the following content:
- Basic Life Support (DRSABCD)
- CPR and AED
- Shock Management
- Airway Management – Asthma, Choking, Severe Allergic Reaction, Hyperventilation
- Cardiac Emergencies
- Seizures and Convulsions
- Bleeding and Wound Care
- Burns and Scalds
- Extremes of Heat and Cold
- Musculoskeletal Injuries
- Poisons and Toxic Substances
- Bites and Stings
- Abdominal injuries
Students will be assessed through written assessment pieces, demonstration of practical skills, participation in role plays and analysis of case studies.
Eligibility and Target Audience
There are no prerequisites for entry to this qualification.
This course targets everyone is general from administration clerks working in an office environment to aged care workers working in facilities as at any time of any day, these skills can save lives.
Outcomes
On successful completion of the course, participants will be issued with a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.
